Lake House Wall Art

I made this out of two pieces of 1/4 inch birch plywood. The top piece I used the Shaper Origin to cut out the outline of the lake (and the two islands). On the bottom piece I used a 1:1 mixture of Rubio Monocoat Sapphire Blue and Peacock Green to stain the rough shape of the lake. I finished the top piece in Pure. Then I glued them on top of each other and cleaned up the edges.

I cut the letters out of 1/8 Walnut using the Origin. It took a little trial and error cutting out detailed pieces this small, but I had a pretty good system by the end. I hand sanded all the pieces, finished them in Rubio Monocoat Pure, and then attached them (and the islands) with CA glue, using the negative cutout pieces as a guide to line everything up.

Finally, I made a 1.5 inch walnut frame, also finished in Pure.

I’m excited about how this came out and that this one is staying in the family!
