Toddler Step Stools

Built for T in Brooklyn, NY.

I loved making this little walnut stool for our friends’ son Thomas. I relied heavily on the Shaper Origin for this one given the inlay and all the curve details. The Thomas inlay is in African mahogany to give a nice color contrast to the walnut and a cool grain pattern.

The legs were a curvy design I came up with with an outwards slant and crossbar to hold everything together with halved joints. I used Festool dominos to join the surface and base.

Later, I made 3 more stools. The first made of Alder with a daisy inlay design of Maple and Walnut. The second and third were made of Walnut with an epoxy inlay.
