Maple Dresser / Changing Table

Built for Savanna’s nursery

Made out of solid hard maple, birch plywood (drawers) and painted MDF (drawer fronts). Designed to match the crib. This project was pretty involved, though a lot of fun as usual. The first challenge was the frame, which joins 4 big maple panels at 45-degree angles to create a continuous edge box. This always seems like it should go better than it does, but has required a bunch of tweaking each time we’ve done it. Then it was building an internal frame, 6 drawer boxes, and getting 6 drawer fronts to line up as precisely as possible.

The legs are the same as the crib and the maple knobs were purchased (no lathe in my shop).

Finally, I added a changing tray for the top, also built out of maple, that holds the changing pad and supplies. It is held to the top of the dresser by removable brackets.
