Custom Laundry Cabinets

I don’t love making cabinets but when we planned out our addition I knew there was no way I was going to pay someone else to build custom cabinets.

We actually took space away from our existing laundry room as part of the remodel, but thought we could make it more functional. We took out the massive wine fridge left by the previous owners (a sad day, but necessary), relocated the sink from one side to the other, and put in a pocket door to get rid of the huge dead space behind the previous swinging door.

We knew we wanted our washer and dryer raised to a more back-friendly height, and liked the idea of pull out shelves for laundry baskets. The layout created a somewhat awkward corner cabinet but I put a couple of lazy Susans in and it actually came out pretty good. I also had to build a substantial platform for the super heavy apron sink. Otherwise pretty straightforward.

We’re not quite done in this room—we’re planning to add uppers all the way around and a tile backsplash—but we’re pausing and declaring victory for now.

Paint color is Upward from Sherwin Williams. Hardware is Amerock Davenport in champagne bronze. All Blum hinges and slides as always.
